Glaucoma Lecture and workshop - Institute of Optometry - South East London Glaucoma Repeat Measures Project

Introduction to Lecture

This lecture comprises talks from several Glaucoma Specialist Consultant Ophthalmologists from St Thomas', Kings and Queen Mary's Hospital.  As well as details of referral standards the Lecture will also include information on how the repeat measures scheme can help your business.  The Lecture will include:

  • Why Pressure Matters
  • What is a dodgy disc?
  • Visual Fields - Defect or Not

Lecture time: 6:30 for 7pm start


Linked Workshops

The lecture is accompanied by a linked workshop taking place before or after the lecture which can be booked at the same time as booking a lecture.  These workshops will offer the opportunity to refresh your knowledge of applanation tonometry including theory, disinfection and decontanimation of devices, calibration of Perkins and Goldmann tonometers as well as hands on practice with experienced supervisors offering tips on the best technique.  This will increase confidence in the clinical setting as well as providing practice for those undertaking the WOPEC OSCE in glaucoma. 


Workshop Times: 

Workshop 1 (takes place before Lecture): 18:00-19:00

Workshop 2 (If delegates are already participating in a glaucoma repeat measures scheme in one of the six South East London Primary Care Trust Areas (Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich, Lambeth, Lewisham and Southwark) only attendance at the lecture session only is necessary.


The lectures and the workshops are both being held at the at the Institute of Optometry, 56-62 Newington Causeway, SE1 6DS.   A map which details transport options is available here

CET Points

The lecture and worshops are accredited for 1.5 CET Points each.  Candidates must complete their GOS number when booking.


A fee for out of hours attendance will be paid for completion of both elements of this training.  Total fee payable is £60.  Feed will only be payable to practitioners who are GOC registered and are performers in one or more of the six PCT areas in South East London
