David Cameron gets his eyes checked at Conservative Party Conference thanks to Optical Confederation and LOCSU

9 October 2012

David Cameron stops to have a retinal photograph and discuss eye health issues, thanks to the Optical Confederation and LOCSU at the Conservative Party Conference.

Jenny Gowen for the Optical Confederation said:
“It is great to see the Prime Minister taking his eye health so seriously and making time in his busy schedule to discuss eye health and the prevention of avoidable blindness.  We hope that this will send a clear message about the importance of regular sight testing for everyone.”

Notes to editors:
  • The Optical Confederation speaks and acts in a powerful and co-ordinated way for UK optical professionals, manufacturers, retailers, distributors and importers.
  • The Local Optical Committee Support Unit works on behalf of the  Optical Confederation to support Local Optical Committees (LOCs) across England in developing local eye health services.  LOCSU helps community optometrists and opticians work with local commissioners to make community eye services accessible for patients and cost effective for the NHS.
