Leadership Development

LOCSU's Leadership Skills for Optics, is a 20-credit postgraduate model, currently being piloted and open to the sector from 2012 through WOPEC at Cardiff University.

This course is designed to enable the practising optical professional to become an effective leader at regional level within the optical sector through the support and development of LOCs/ROCs, building effective strategic networks, influencing policy makers and enhancing eye health services for patients.

It provides an understanding of current leadership models and theoretical approaches and will give delegates the background knowledge and practical skills that will equip them to provide leadership in the optical sector on a regional basis.

LOCSU will be funding 11 places on the first cohort starting in January 2012.  If you would like to apply for one of these places please contact us for more details.  Completed applications must be received by Friday, 18th November 2011.

Training sessions at the National Optometric Conference 2011

This year we included  a live Peer Review session as part of our NOC programme. 125 delegates were awarded 3 CET points for participation in our morning of peer review lectures and workshops at this year's NOC.  10 facilitated peer discussion groups reviewed a case and provided feedback on how peer discussion can be used to support the profession.  Our report on the future of peer discussion will be available soon.
