LOCSU launches training upgrade

11 September 2020

Thinkific has been selected by LOCSU as the new long-term online learning platform, to offer a whole new suite of courses to LOC members and officers. The platform was selected following a successful trial in June 2020. The LOC Induction module has now launched on the new platform and other courses will follow over the Autumn and Winter.

Explaining the improvements, LOCSU Digital Learning and Support Officer, Simone Mason said “The Thinkific environment is a collaborative and interactive style of learning. It delivers all the content as weekly activities and practical tasks – including videos, quizzes, PDFs, documents and audio clips.” Course participants can add comments, share videos and share Facebook-style “posts” on threads.

“We believe it will be a more enjoyable and effective way of learning for new LOC officers. As the system is cloud-based, the inductees can access the course 24/7 and complete in their own time, but we will come together in the form of a zoom webinar to meet each other and reflect on our learning,” Simone explained.

The new Thinkific approach was launched on 7 September 2020 with a full course of 25 Inductees. Programme details and dates of the next LOC Induction course and how to join, as well as details of other courses available via the Thinkific platform, will be available in the coming weeks on the LOCSU website and via LOCSU News.
