New Officer Induction Days for LOC and ROC members

9 September 2011

The Local Optical Committee Support Unit (LOCSU) has announced two induction training days to help optical committee
members to respond to the opportunities created by changes within NHS in England.
The training will also particularly help new officers develop their ‘nuts and bolts’ knowledge of how best to support their local optical committee.  The training will also cover:
• how effectively run Local or Regional Committees means more opportunities for community optometry
• how to capitalise on the new NHS landscape,
and
• ways to develop and improve your communications and negotiations with commissioners

Gill Brabner, Director of Education and Training for LOCSU said
“Local and Regional Optical Committees are facing a seismic shift in the way eye care services are commissioned.  This induction provides both new officers and officers who want refresher training – with the means to help them navigate these challenging new waters.”

Members can choose either of the following days:-
• London –Monday 19th September 2011 at LOCSU’s new offices at 2 Woodbridge Street, London EC1R 0DG.
• Exeter –Thursday 6th October 2011 at St Olaves Hotel. Mary Arches Street, Exeter EX4 3AZ.
Both days include lunch and refreshments and last from 10am-4pm.
To book your place (including dietary requirements), please contact Jacque Hudson, Office Manager at Local Optical Committee Support Unit either at jacquehudson@locsu.co.uk or call 020 7549 2050.
