Ophthalmic Public Health Network moves closer - steering group announced

7 February 2012

Leading ophthalmic and public health experts have joined forces in a new steering group to oversee the first ever Ophthalmic Public Health Network, the Local Optical Committee Support Unit (LOCSU) has announced.

The steering group will provide advice and input to ensure that the new Ophthalmic Public Health Network will be an effective resource for all those working on or interested in ophthalmic public health. The network will look to engage NHS Commissioners, Health and Wellbeing Boards, providers, public health experts and academic departments.

Katrina Venerus, LOCSU’s Director of Operations and Commissioning, said:
“News that the Government has made a commitment to include a measure of eye health in the national public health priorities for England has underlined the need for an Ophthalmic Public Health Network to share expertise, data and innovation.  We are delighted to have such senior and influential figures from both the ophthalmic and public health arenas involved in the steering group.”
